Duties:
Beacon Credit Union is seeking a Controller to join our team.
Role
Directs the establishment and maintenance of the organization’s accounting principles, practices, and procedures for the maintenance of its fiscal records and the preparation of its financial reports. Directs general and property accounting, cost accounting, and budgetary control. Appraises operating results in terms of costs, budgets, operating policies, trends, and increased profit opportunities.
Works with the Accounting Dept. and maintains accurate General Ledgers by reconciliation of cash accounts, accurate and timely processing and recording of payables and account for revenue received, in order to produce quality monthly financial statements for the company.
Requirements:
Knowledge and Skills
Experience
Advanced knowledge with accounting software required. 5-10 years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience. Banking/Credit Union accounting experience required.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
An undergraduate degree and CPA are required.
Interpersonal Skills
The ability to motivate or influence inside or outside senior level executives is a critical part of the job, requiring a significant level of influence and trust. Obtaining cooperation and agreement on important outcomes via frequently complex, senior level dialogue, as well as a professional level of written communication skills are essential to the position.
Other Skills
Expert use of Microsoft Excel and Accounting Software required. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, applicable State and Federal regulations, primarily those of the Office of Thrift Supervision, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Federal Reserve Board and applicable association regulations (e.g., NACHA). Knowledge of tax regulations and related activities. Knowledge of laws and regulations covering the management and retention of various types of records.
