Duties:

ABNB Federal Credit Union is currently seeking a Collections Supervisor.

The Collections Supervisor is to preserve the credit union’s assets by controlling delinquent accounts, collecting delinquent loan payments and/or recovering collateral; scheduling, training, and monitoring the work of other Collectors. Provide support to the Collections Manager and department.

Major Responsibilities

  • Assists Collection Manager with hires, reviews, schedules, training, coaching, and monitoring the work of Collections Staff. Conducts touch bases, team clinics, individual monthly performance updates, and yearly performance reviews.
  • Monitors delinquency (including negative balances), audit delinquent accounts, handles all members who have been accelerated to management. Reviews all documentation, correspondence, and calls to members. Ensures quality control of department with Collections Manager.
  • Supervises Collectors regarding bankruptcy, repossession, fraud, CPI garnishments, and legal to ensure credit union is following all guidelines, due diligence, and regulations.
  • Analyzes all recommended legal action, attorney assignments, and costs. Participates in court proceedings, actively works with investigators, and files legal actions when necessary.
  • Monitors and balances all Collection Department GL's.
  • Identifies and communicates to management trends of loan underwriting contributing to delinquent and charge off accounts.
  • Assists management with reports and updates on daily delinquency.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

Position Requirements

  • (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
  • Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
  • Minimum 5 years of increasing responsible job experience in the collection field.
  • Thorough knowledge of collection procedures, techniques and court proceedings.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills to supervise employees and communicate effectively with members.
  • Excellent analytical ability to make decisions and resolve problems.
  • Ability to operate a PC and related software
  • Physical qualifications include sitting at a computer for extended periods of time, being able to lift and carry at least 25 pounds. Ability to use the telephone to communicate with members.
