Re: Governance Committee Seeks Prospective Candidates for Five Seats on the League Board

Dear Credit Union Official:

The Governance Committee of the Virginia Credit Union League seeks your recommendations for candidates to be nominated for election to the Board of Directors. In 2024, five board seats are open for election. Listed below are the positions and terms:

League Board Elections

Eligible candidates for regional director can be named from any credit union in the region so long as the candidate meets the requirements as set forth in the League bylaws. Eligible candidates for At-Large seats can be named from any member credit union so long as the candidate meets the requirements as set forth in the League bylaws.

Submitting Nominations

Your submission can be made:

1. In writing (use the enclosed form - Word | PDF). It must be received by the Governance Committee no later than March 1.

Notes About This Year's Elections

• The incumbents currently serving in these seats are:
  • Region I (Southeast) - Deb Vollmer (Langley Federal Credit Union)
  • Region III  (North & Central) - Janine Williams (UVA Community Credit Union)
  • At-Large - Michael Huff (Navy Federal Credit Union)
  • At-Large - Joe Thomas (NextMark Credit Union)  
  • At-Large - Chris Williams (Henrico Federal Credit Union)
• Regarding the election of the three At-Large seats, the two individuals with the highest vote totals will be elected to three-year terms; the third-place vote-getter will serve a one-year term.
• We anticipate ballots being mailed to credit unions in mid-March. 
• The Region I seat and one of the At-Large seats will serve one-year terms.
• Given the number of seats on this year's ballot, we would note for the membership that the League bylaws state that at no time shall a majority of directors be affiliated with members that have their principal office within the same Region.
