League Announces Staffing Updates

Your League is today announcing several staffing updates. CeJae Vtipilson, who joined the League in 2016, has been promoted to Vice President of Political Affairs. Jasmine Mines, who joined the League in 2022, has been promoted to Director of Marketing. Lewis Wood, Vice President of Public Relations and Communication, is departing the League, effective March 26.

SE Management School: Scholarship Deadline April 30th

Southeast Management School is the premier learning opportunity for credit union professionals in the southeast, providing students with the skills and knowledge to meet today’s leadership challenges. Over the course of this three-year program, students receive advanced academic instruction on a variety of topics including management, leadership, and financial analysis.

Hampton Roads Educators Celebrates 70 years of Service

Hampton Roads Educators Credit Union recently held its annual meeting celebrating 70 years of service to their members in the Hampton Roads/Peninsula communities.
   

Governor Youngkin Appoints Kevin Laine, EVP of ValleyStar Credit Union, to Board of Directors of New College Institute

ValleyStar Credit Union proudly announces the appointment of Kevin B. Laine, Executive Vice President, to the Board of Directors of New College Institute (NCI). Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin’s office officially announced Laine’s appointment to the position in a formal press release on March 15, 2024. 
  

Virginia Council on Women Reaches Out to Credit Unions for Scholarship Support

VACUL staff were contacted by representatives from the Virginia Council on Women seeking sponsorship support from credit unions for its annual STEAM-H Essay Contest. The contest, in its 12th year, awards high school senior girls pursuing STEAM-H majors and careers with scholarships to aid with their tuition at institutions of higher education. Essay applicants must submit a 700-1,000 word essay discussing their motivation for pursuing a STEAM-H career and their anticipated course of STEAM-H study, trade, and/or profession. Two winners, one merit-based and one need-based, will be named from each region.
 
Interested credit unions can complete the online sponsorship form for more information and to submit their contribution. All Sponsors will be recognized in promotional materials and press releases and invited to the scholarship presentation event. In the past, this has taken place with the Governor at the Executive Mansion.
