Congresswoman Wexton Will Not Seek Re-Election

Authored By: League Staff on 9/18/2023

Rep. Jennifer Wexton (D-10th) has announced that she will not seek re-election next year.

Wexton, a former Loudoun County prosecutor, judge and state senator, unseated Rep. Barbara Comstock, R-10th, in 2018, then defeated Republicans Aliscia Andrews in 2020 and Hung Cao in 2022.

The congresswoman originally announced a few months ago that she had Parkinson's Disease, and has recently received an updated diagnosis of Progressive Supra-nuclear Palsy, type-p (PSP-P), a form of Atypical Parkinsonism.

Rep. Wexton most recently joined us for our NoVA-area Legislative Reception.

“We appreciate the Congresswoman’s many years of public service to the Commonwealth and look forward to working with her as she serves out the remainder of her term,” said League President/CEO Carrie Hunt. “She’s remained a friend to credit unions throughout her time as a legislator at both the state and federal levels. Her contributions will have lasting impact into the future.”
