Representatives from BayPort CU, UVA Community CU and ValleyStar CU joined League representatives today to meet with Congressman Ben Cline as part of our Hike The Hill efforts today.

Credit unions and the League are celebrating another successful “Hike The Hill,” having met with eight Congressional offices today. Learn more about yesterday’s meetings here, our reception with Sen. Mark Warner here and our meeting with Sen. Tim Kaine here.

During the meetings, we discussed our legislative priorities, including our opposition to the Credit Card Competition Act (interchange legislation) and credit unions’ interest in helping the nation’s small businesses. We also noted the impact of regulation on credit union operations.

“While we are continuously engaged with lawmakers on our issues, Hike The Hill represents a unique opportunity to advocate for credit unions, showcase the ‘Credit Union Difference’ and hear directly from lawmakers their perspectives on the issues credit unions face, all against the backdrop of the GAC, which brought almost 6,000 credit union advocates to Washington,” said JT Blau, chief advocacy officer for the League. "Our thanks to the credit union advocates who helped us tell the credit union story this week in Washington."

Support Our Advocacy Efforts: Email Lawmakers in Opposition to the Credit Card Competition Act

You can support this week's advocacy efforts in Washington by emailing lawmakers in opposition to the Credit Card Competition Act! You can easily do so here. Please encourage your co-workers, volunteer officials and members to do the same. Derailing the Credit Card Competition Act is a legislative priority for the League, and we again communicated our opposition to the measure during our meetings this week.
