League Plans Full Slate of Advocacy Events for GAC

Your League plans to host a number of “Hike The Hill” legislative visits and a Legislative Reception as part of our advocacy efforts at the Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC).

  • We’ve confirmed visits with members of our Congressional delegation. If you would like to be included in the meeting with your congressman or congresswoman, please let us know by emailing CeJae Vtipilson at cvtipilson@vacul.org.
  • Sens. Mark Warner and Tim Kaine do not schedule meetings more than two weeks out. We hope to confirm meetings this week with them or their staff. If you want to attend meetings with either senator, please email CeJae.

Note: We may be limited in the number of representatives who can attend these meetings with lawmakers, so act quickly to secure a spot. You need not be registered for the GAC to participate.

  • We will host a Legislative Reception on March 4 in the Rayburn House Office Building from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. To aid us in planning, we do ask that you register for this event.
  • Join us for our GAC Kickoff Happy Hour on March 3, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Marriott Marquis Hotel Bar. This will be an informal networking event to celebrate the start of GAC!

Report Your Financial Education Efforts

Credit unions: Many of you are actively involved in conducting financial education presentations and we remind you to report your good work to the Credit Union Financial Education Network (CUFEN)! We use the reported data to highlight for policymakers credit unions’ commitment to financial education and financial well-being and to showcase the “Credit Union Difference.”

Virginia-based credit unions reported reaching 28,144 students and 17,568 adults with lessons on personal finance during the year ended June 30, 2023. However, we know that many of you did not report on your efforts last year. Now that we’re halfway through the 2023-2024 school year, it’s the perfect time to report your efforts to date!
