911

For the first time in my life this week I had to call 911.  I was first on the scene to a bike accident where the rider had either slid in the rain or lost control and hit the wall of a concrete parking garage - face first.  She was in shock and very clearly had broken her nose.  She asked me how her face looked and I told her the truth.  By the time the EMTs got there we had gotten the bleeding stopped and she was in good hands.  In hindsight, I am not sure that was the right moment for honesty.

Yesterday, the legislative session began, and Delegate Don Scott (D-Portsmouth) was elected the first African American Speaker of the House in Virginia’s history.  We have hosted him at Credit Union House many times.   While not quite at the level of calling 911, I am putting out the urgent call for everyone to come to Credit Union Day on January 18th and to send grassroots emails and make calls to your legislators asking them to support our bill.  We need LOTS of messages both in person and through our Advocacy Action Center.  The Capital One has hired its own lobbyist to fight this issue and we need to show the power of credit unions and speak the truth again banker hypocrisy.

I am very excited for a fantastic Credit Union Day and to lead the charge in support of our public deposits legislation (H.B.-1205).
