Governor Youngkin Signs SB436, Your League In Attendance

Virginia Credit Union League Interim President/CEO Karima Freeman had the opportunity to meet with Governor Youngkin today at the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance, where he signed SB436. The meeting was attended by local legislators including Senators David Suetterlein (R-04) and Mark Peake (R-08), Delegates Wendell Walker (R-52) and Eric Zehr (R-51), former Delegate Kathy Byron, as well as many employers. The event was hosted by Megan Lucas, the CEO and Chief Economic Development Officer of the LRBA.

The taglines "Compete to Win" and "You are Hired!" set the tone for the event, where Governor Youngkin presented statistics on Virginia's workforce development. The bill signed today, SB 436, focuses on workforce development and advancement building upon previous efforts to ensure alignment between the workforce and training programs designed to fill high-demand jobs. The Governor stated, “By signing this bill, we are all renewing our commitment to ensuring Virginia is home to the most vibrant talent pipeline in the nation.”
