December 18, 2023 (Roanoke, VA) — Supporting organizations that have a meaningful impact within our communities is part of our mission of “Helping People Prosper – Helping Communities Thrive”. Freedom First Credit Union is pleased to announce the non-profit recipients of our 2023 Community Investment Grants program.

Twenty non-profits located in the Roanoke, New River Valley, and Lynchburg areas received Community Investment Grants totaling $35,000.

Non-profits play a critical role in addressing unmet needs within our community. “These grant recipients are a true testament to the impact that a small group of committed people can have in their community,” said Dave Prosser, Senior Vice President of Community Development with Freedom First.

Grant recipient Literacy NRV, is dedicated to fostering, supporting, advocating for, and instructing adults in the New River Valley who seek opportunities to achieve greater independence through literacy. “With the support of FFCU, we can continue to expand our reach and tailor our programs to better meet the diverse needs of our learners,” said Ginny Ayers, Executive Director Literacy NRV. “This donation will empower us to invest in innovative teaching resources, technology, and experienced instructors, ensuring that our students receive the highest quality education. Together, we are building a brighter future for our community by fostering literacy skills that open doors to personal and professional success.”
