We're off and running at the Virginia General Assembly!

This morning, League President/CEO Carrie Hunt (pictured above outside the state Capitol) and Grassroots Programs and Political Fundraising Director CeJae Vtipilson met with all 17 new members of the House or one of their key aides.

We produced a one-page flyer that highlights the "Credit Union Difference" and how our work contributes to the success of our members, our communities and the Commonwealth.

"This promises to be a busy, unpredictable session," notes Hunt, "but we've worked hard these past few months to position credit unions for success. Certainly, a divided legislature, Gov.-elect Youngkin's ambitious agenda, and some uncertainties brought about by recent redistricting will pose challenges this session for any organization engaged in lobbying. In addition to our own legislation, we can also count on dozens of bills we'll need to track and monitor for their potential impact on credit unions, including legislation that impacts both state- and federally chartered credit unions."

Note: Stay tuned for additional information on our credit union legislation!

Carrie and CeJae also had the opportunity to meet with a number of key lawmakers and longtime credit union supporters as we gear up for the session -- one which features Republicans in control of the House and governor's mansion and Democrats holding the Senate, albeit by a 21-to-19 margin.
