Data Activation Education Series 2024 & Data Governance Webinar

Presented by THRIVE in partnership with the Virginia League. We are offering two data-focused educational opportunities in 2024. The Data Activation Series is a multi-week, five-session course on optimizing your credit union's effective use of data. The Deep Dive Data Governance webinar will be offered twice in 2024 (April 24 and Oct. 1). These are separate and distinct offerings. You are not required to register for both.

Data Activation Series Overview

Data has been called one of the most important investments an organization can make by Forbes, McKinsey & Gartner.

We know credit unions benefit from data in these important ways:

  • Increases member acquisition and retention
  • Delivers relevant value to the member.
  • By reviewing member spending behavior we can make a sophisticated analysis of member trends and needs. This allows the CU to offer relevant solutions to members -- in some cases before the member knows he or she needs it.
  • Data serves to help us with risk identification and Early Warning Systems
  • Data helps us create innovative products to lessen member friction and increase engagement.

Yet, according to a survey performed by MX, 92% of credit unions fail to effectively leverage their available data.

According to consulting firm McKinsey, the top 5 reasons data efforts fail are:

  • Lack of a clear data strategy (Only 30% of FIs surveyed had a data strategy).
  • Inability to translate data strategy into tangible use cases.
  • We do not have clear roadmaps.
  • We do not have foundational data governance.
  • We have not leveraged our available talent to translate data into valuable action.

This educational offering is an integrated data education program that will fill knowledge gaps, provide insights, and build enterprise capabilities to leverage enterprise data for less time and money than you think.

Deep Dive Data Governance

The educational investment for this series is $695 after the Virginia League's $100 discount.

About this program

The mission of a data governance program is to give a formal structure to its data. Its primary focus is on managing data access, quality, and security throughout its life cycle. It has been called a “must-have” by consulting firm McKinsey for enterprise data success. A formal data governance program is already appearing on many regulatory audits and will likely be a mandatory feature of a data program assessment in the next year. The challenge for many credit unions lies in creating a launch plan and having a template for success. This 3-hour webinar will fill these knowledge gaps by providing 1) a basic foundation for data governance, 2) a framework for success 3) a detailed launch road map.

Deliverables:

  • Launch Road Map
  • Actionable learning artifacts: (worksheets, assessment forms, templates)

Dates: This will be offered on April 24 & Oct. 1. Session repeats. You need only attend one session.

Time: Noon-3 p.m.

What to expect:

  • 3-hour, Data Governance session
  • Data Governance workbook
  • Foundational Data Governance
  • Data Governance Charter Framework
