Duties:

Northwest Federal Credit Union is currently accepting applications for an Electronic Payments Manager. The Electronic Payments Manager’s role is to assess existing processes to recommend, design and implement a vastly improved approach for payment operations while ensuring efficient and regulatory compliant operations. Responsible for all aspects of Electronic Services including ACH, Wires and EFT’s.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage Electronic Payments policies, procedures and day to day operations ensuring efficiency and compliance resulting in minimal exceptions and timely processing
  • Hire, supervise, coach, develop, and regularly review the performance of direct reports
  • Deliver oversight and ongoing support for the Electronic Payment team by providing one on one coaching and guidance to enable them to achieve outstanding performance
  • Responsible for employee development, counseling, discipline and changes in status of the team
  • Plans, directs, and supervises activities of Electronic Payments department
  • Defines employee roles and responsibilities to make sure current and future department needs are met
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subordinates, peers, Vendors, and Senior Management
  • Maintain an excellent rapport with all departments/branches and provides support and instruction for Electronic payment processes and procedures
  • Communicate regulatory changes to team members in a timely manner in order to facilitate understanding and compliance
  • Recommend, implement and refine operational systems and procedures for the Electronic payments line of business
  • Seek out process improvement to increase departmental productivity and quality of service
  • Routine review of process performance to determine root cause of error(s) and provide coaching to eliminate errors
  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production reports
  • Ensure monitoring tools are in place to identify risks and provide general oversight of the department
  • Ensure all operations comply with NWFCU and Federal Regulations
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by retaining an awareness of industry trends and technology; identifies opportunities to attend seminars that enhance skills and maintain knowledge of new products that could assist in improving operational effectiveness
  • Assists with the development and management of payments strategy. Evaluates emerging products and how payment systems will be used to support future goals
  • Assists with completion of the annual budget for the department and reviews monthly performance
  • Completes Operations by developing schedules; assigning and monitoring work; gathering resources; implementing productivity standards; resolving operations problems; maintaining reference manuals; implementing new procedures; keeping upper management informed of problems and solutions
  • Demonstrate enthusiastic support of corporate mission, core values and long term objectives. Performs job duties within our bylaws, regulations, Board of Directors policies, established internal and external service standards and our work procedures
  • Complete periodic control testing of the department, coordinates with internal auditors as required for periodic examinations
  • Works with Audit and Compliance Departments to conduct and review various risk assessments within the Operations of the department; identify and implement internal controls to mitigate such risks, and draft policies and procedures to support internal controls
  • Monitors performance of multiple platforms and solutions and gathers, analyzes and interprets data. Makes recommendations for process improvements to leadership team
  • Assist with completing RFP’s for new/existing business relationships
  • Develop dashboards to report on key payment metrics; Monitor KPI’s to detect and escalate anomalies
  • Able to multi-task effectively with the ability to follow-up on actions and projects in a reasonable timeframe
  • Ability to solve problems independently and analytically reason through issues
  • Ability to motivate and influence others, foster sound relationships, present a trustworthy and diplomatic image, and deal effectively with others concerning topics of a personal or sensitive nature
  • Ability to write procedures, plan, develop and conduct training
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College level accounting/business courses desired. Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum five years of financial institution/accounting experience required
  • Previous management experience in a fast-changing business environment
  • Ability to identify gaps in process and create actionable plans to improve
  • Experience with ACH, Wires and emerging technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and meet deadlines while applying detail-oriented work habits
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Federal Regulations as they pertain to ACH, Wires and ability to adhere to them
  • Working knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office, ACH software, wire transfer software and Federal Reserve Bank software
