NEW: GM Private Offer for CU Members


GM is offering an exclusive discount to the members of participating credit unions on eligible 2010-2011 model year vehicles. Any size credit union is eligible to participate. 

Credit unions who are not yet one of Invest In America's Participating Credit Unions, and you want to offer the GM Private Offer to members, you're asked to first complete the online Sign Up Form for IIA. 

Invest In America is not requiring credit unions to furnish a list of their members they choose to invite to the promotion and you are not being required to sign any forms.

Invest In America will soon be announcing a template credit unions can use as their e-mail/direct mail invitation to eligible members.

Here are the details:

  • Private offer timing: 11/2/10 – 1/3/11
  • Private offer incentive in excess of $750
  • Available to targeted credit union members only

    It will be in the credit union’s best interest to attempt to identify members within their base who are most eligible for auto loans vs. marketing to their entire base.  It is up to each credit union to determine how they will identify members to invite, but other credit unions have told us they will use some of the below suggestions:

    • Members with an auto loan between April 2006 and April 2008 who are younger than 75 years old with a credit score greater than 700.
    • Member Households with maturing loans in the next 30, 60 or 90 days.
    • Member Households that "look-like" (based on demographics) members that have applied and been approved for an auto loan in 2009-2010, but never took advantage of a loan.
  • You can imagine a credit union who invites their entire membership base to a this kind of Private Offer and their loan department then becomes flooded with loan applications from members who may never qualify for a new auto loan.  We simply want credit unions to make an attempt to market this promotion to their best auto loan candidates. 
  • Identify members in-market for a new auto
  • Credit unions have complete flexibility on modeling their member data
  • Credit unions must send a direct mail/e-mail piece to targeted members to inform them of the offer and to provide their unique program code
  • To take full advantage of the offer, credit union members will need to provide dealership personnel with two codes:
    • The standard GM credit union member discount authorization code
    • The unique private offer program code which will be pre-printed on the direct mail/email piece
  • Eligible 2010/2011 Model Year vehicles: Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Avalanche, Chevrolet HHR, GMC Sierra, and Buick Lucerne.
