The Meeting includes educational programs as well as many business and networking activities. Program topics include regulatory and legislative issues, new products and services, marketing, economics, leadership and management skills.
- Staff Development Workshops
These workshops feature a series of day-long seminars targeted for specific skills. These include teller effectiveness, supervisory skills, financial counseling, personnel issues, lending techniques, member business lending programs and management skills. Topics change from year to year, based on credit unions’ requests and needs.
- CEO Forum, Roundtable and Summit
Three specially-designed workshops tailored to credit unions based on asset size. These sessions provide educational opportunities and the chance to network with your peers from across the Commonwealth.
- Community Credit Union Roundtable
A special education and networking workshop for community-chartered and community development credit unions, and for credit unions with underserved areas in their fields-of-membership.
- Consumer Lending School
The Consumer Lending School is for individuals who have lending authority in their credit unions. The objectives of this school are to reinforce the credit union lending philosophy and the importance of lending in credit union finance. The School also helps you better understand lending policies, identify laws and regulations which affect consumer lending and enhance your ability in making good lending decisions.
- Southeastern Regional Credit Union School (SRCUS)
A three-year management development school held for one week each summer. The school is designed for credit union managers, credit union staff who have management responsibilities, and those who have aspirations to become credit union managers. Topics include management skills, operations, business and organizational development, supervisory techniques and financial management training. Students are required to complete a comprehensive project that focuses on their own credit union.
- Southeastern Regional Directors’ Conference
An intensive four-day leadership seminar designed for board members. Hosted by the individual leagues of the Southeastern states on a rotating basis, this program consistently offers an excellent balance of leadership education and networking opportunities.
- Marketing Workshops
These quarterly information-packed workshops are hosted by the Credit Union Marketing Council of Virginia. Each features information on marketing research, effective marketing campaigns, marketing strategy, public relations, media relations and much more.
- Volunteer Achievement Program (VAP)
A modular training program for credit union volunteer officials, this series consists of three core modules addressing the general responsibilities of credit union volunteers, plus three additional modules designed for the volunteer’s specific area of responsibility as a director, credit committee member or supervisory committee member.
- Volunteer Leadership Program (VLP)
Designed to meet the continuing educational needs of credit union volunteer officials by building on the information covered in the VAP program, these modules are designed to help participants customize their learning. It is suggested — but not required — that participants first complete the Volunteer Achievement Program before they start VLP.
- Staff Training and Recognition Program (STAR)
A modular training program designed specifically for individuals whose responsibilities include member contact, STAR is divided into three learning tracks covering member services, consumer lending and accounting. Your credit union can select from a variety of delivery options that range from self-study to a combination of in-house training and self-study.
- Management Enrichment Training Program (MERIT)
Designed for both beginning and experienced supervisors and managers, MERIT provides an up-to-date training curriculum that gives your employees greater knowledge of their duties and responsibilities. Modules give participants hands-on experience that teaches them to effectively lead others while developing the skills necessary to succeed in their own jobs.
- Certified Credit Union Executive Program (CCUE)
The Certified Credit Union Executive Program is the hallmark of professional credit union achievement. It is a college-level curriculum program for managers or those with management aspirations. Certification is received by successfully completing nine required courses and two elective courses.
- Regulatory Training and Certification Program (RegTraC)
Basic and advanced compliance training for staff, managers and compliance officers, these self-study, compliance training courses are written in practical, easy-to-understand language. RegTraC provides the guidance and tools necessary to keep your staff up to speed on changing regulatory requirements.
