Program Overview
Anyone who works in compliance knows how difficult it is to keep up with the changes in laws, rules, and regulations. Each year brings new concerns and new risks. Everything Compliance
Mary-Lou Heighes, President of Compliance Plus, Inc., will discuss developing the FACT Act ID Theft Program, including conducting your risk assessment, putting together scenarios and action item for handling the detection of an ID theft red flag and outlining the contents of your policy and procedures. She’ll also cover the FACT rules which limits the sharing of information with affiliated parties for marketing solicitations, as well as NCUA hot topics strategic planning and vendor due diligence.

Human Resource Management Compliance Issues
HR attorneys Tom Winn and Dan Summerlin, Woods Rogers PLC, will discuss recent changes to the Family and Medical Leave Act, and the necessity for conducting a human resource audit at your credit union. The session will also cover the Fair Labor Standards Act as it applies to specific instances such as when travel time is compensable. Tom and Dan will also discuss issues such as retaliation and “good and bad” documentation practices and how your documentation of today will impact your investigations of tomorrow.
