Former Sen. and past Virginia Gov. George Allen met with representatives of the Virginia League and Virginia’s credit unions in Richmond on May 29 to discuss the possibility of the League endorsing Allen in his campaign for the U.S. Senate seat of the retiring Jim Webb.
Gov. Tim Kaine is also seeking the League’s endorsement. A meeting between the former Virginia governor and credit union representatives is expected to take place in June.
Credit union representatives were seeking details from Allen on his stance on a number of key credit union issues, including member business lending, supplemental capital and credit unions’ tax exemption.
League President Rick Pillow reports that Allen spent more than an hour with the credit union group.
