The Virginia Credit Union League, the state trade association for the 179 not-for-profit credit unions based in the commonwealth, has endorsed Del. Todd Gilbert in his re-election bid for the Virginia House of Delegates' 15th District.

The Virginia Credit Union League, the state trade association for the 179 not-for-profit credit unions based in the commonwealth, has endorsed Del. Todd Gilbert in his re-election bid for the Virginia House of Delegates' 15th District.

The Republican and former prosecutor, now working in private law practice, has served in the House since 2006.

"We appreciate Del. Gilbert's willingness to help Virginia's families by being a engaged and committed champion for member-owned credit unions," says Virginia Credit Union League President Rick Pillow. "On behalf of the 7,200 credit union members residing in his district, we heartily endorse Del. Gilbert's campaign and look forward to ensuring Virginians' continued access to affordable financial services at not-for-profit credit unions."

The Virginia General Assembly each year considers dozens of pieces of legislation that potentially impact the operations of member-owned credit unions or affect their ability to serve their members. The League lobbies lawmakers on behalf of credit unions, supporting legislation that benefits credit unions and their members, while opposing proposals that negatively affect operations and service.

"The Virginia Credit Union League recognizes the laws passed in Richmond and Washington affect the daily operations of our credit unions, which means those laws also affect the families that depend on us as their financial services partner," says Pillow. "That's why it's so important we return lawmakers like Del. Gilbert to Richmond, where he can fight for working families by supporting credit unions."

The Virginia Credit Union League is the state trade association for the commonwealth's 179 credit unions, which boast 7.7 million members worldwide, including 3 million Virginians, and more than $93 billion in assets.
