Charlottesville, VA, May 7, 2014 - When Credit Unions for Kids & the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) recently partnered to enhance the financial education opportunities for patients and families at every Children's Miracle Network (CMN) hospital in the U.S., UVA Community Credit Union immediately jumped on board by donating a box set of Biz Kid$ DVDs to the University of Virginia Children’s Hospital.

Biz Kid$, the Emmy Award winning and credit union funded public television series that teaches kids about money management and entrepreneurship, will be available for patients and families to enjoy during their stay at hospital.

“We’re very excited to make this donation,” said Rebecca Cardwell UVA Community Credit Union’s Vice President of Community Relations and manager of their financial literacy outreach programs. “The educational aspect and fun-factor of this series is outstanding.  Created by the producers of Bill Nye the Science Guy, Biz Kid$is relevant and engaging. We know it will be a ‘go-to’ resource at the hospital to help make time fly by.”

“We hope the donation of the Biz Kid$ program will develop an even deeper credit union/hospital relationship where credit unions not only support the financial needs of the hospital but also the financial needs of the patient families,” said Danielle Brown, NCUF Director of Development and Donor Relations. “Linking credit unions’ philanthropy with their mission to improve people’s financial lives is truly a win-win.”

UVA Community Credit Union also underwrites the Biz Kid$ series locally on WVPT public television which airs every Saturday at 10:00 AM.
