Roanoke, Va. (Oct. 30, 2013) – Member One Federal Credit Union raised over $3,000 for Habitat for Humanity in the Roanoke Valley through its Rolling Thunder raffle. The Rolling Thunder raffle included a drawing to win Carl and Roy’s Rolling Thunder scooter and an iPad mini during the months of April through October. Individuals who purchased raffle tickets were automatically entered into the drawing and the ticket proceeds went directly to Habitat for Humanity in the Roanoke Valley.

“Member One is committed to not only the financial security of its members, but also to serving the needs of its communities,” said Karen Mason, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity in the Roanoke Valley.

Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit and non-governmental organization, believes everyone deserves the right to simple and affordable housing and for Member One, the raffle was an exciting way to help the community. “Carl and Roy's Rolling Thunder raffle gave us an opportunity to help out a local organization in a fun and unique way. We had people actually ask if the bike was for sale, so when those requests started piling in, we thought we might have a chance to put the demand to good use,” said Daniel Bliley, Vice President of Marketing at Member One.

Member One was pleased to partner with Habitat for Humanity and looks forward to continuing to help the organization and the community of Southwest Virginia prosper. “We are blessed to partner with Member One. This support will put volunteers and homeowners to work building safe, affordable homes in the Mountain View neighborhood where we have five homes under construction,” Mason said.
