ABNB FCU Helps Members Save $7.9 Million

Mar 5, 2013 by Lewis Wood

In 2011, ABNB set a goal to save its members $1.5 million by refinancing their crazy-high interest rate loans with more than fair rates putting that money back into their pockets, where it belongs. Now two years later, ABNB has continued this campaign, saving its members over $12 million!

"As a community based credit union, we couldn't think of a better way to serve our members than to make sure they're getting fair, honest rates on their loans. It's something we've always done, but now we're tracking it and hope that this will encourage and educate consumers in the Hampton Roads community to shop around for the best rates before committing to a loan. Or if they're currently paying on a loan with a crazy-high interest rate, they're not stuck," stated Carl Ratcliff, CEO of ABNB.

Chesapeake, VA | March 5, 2013: In 2011, ABNB set a goal to save its members $1.5 million by refinancing their crazy-high interest rate loans with more than fair rates putting that money back into their pockets, where it belongs. Now 2 years later, ABNB has continued this campaign, saving its members over $12 million!

In 2012, members showed their appreciation of this new approach. Karla Johnson, ABNB member stated, “I came to ABNB FCU and met Joel, the MSR at Fairfield branch. Joel was a great help on setting up my new account and explaining how different a credit union is from a traditional bank. They were also able to consolidate my credit cards when my other bank would not help me. Best move I could have made to choose ABNB FCU and leave the traditional banking behind.”

This promotion has helped many of its members maintain in this tough economic environment.

ABNB will continue this campaign through 2013 with a new savings goal of $8.5 million.
