Herndon, Va. – More than 1,700 members of Northwest Federal Credit Union enjoyed a day of food, games, entertainment and prizes at the Credit Union’s 10th Annual Member Appreciation Day on April 26.

“This is our way of thanking our members for choosing us as their lifetime financial partner – a role we take very seriously,” said Chris McDonald, President/CEO of Northwest Federal. “It is always a fun event that’s well-attended, and this year was no exception.”

In addition to BBQ, carnival rides and face painting, guests took part in a Member Benefits Expo, where they learned more about the Credit Union’s features and services. Northwest Federal’s youth club mascot – Westie – mingled with families and posed for pictures with young guests. A Car Show and Sale, with 17 dealerships participating, was also part of the event, where a one-day rate special was offered for members needing auto loans. All activities were free of charge and open to Northwest Federal members and their guests.

During the event, participants could enter raffle drawings for cash prizes – $100, $250 and $500. Plus, new members opening savings and checking accounts, as well as current members making member referrals, were entered to win the special “Getaway Giveaway” prize of $2,500, to be awarded on August 1. Also participating was the Northwest Federal Credit Union Foundation, the Credit Union’s charitable arm, which sold raffle tickets for a drawing to win a 2014 Honda Civic. Tickets are available for purchase at any Northwest Federal branch throughout May; proceeds will help fund the Foundation’s Ben DeFelice Scholarship Fund, as well as benefit Children’s Miracle Network programs.

“The day is much more than just food, games and prizes. It’s also a great opportunity to share the benefits of Credit Union membership with our members and guests,” said McDonald.
