Rick graduated from Lynchburg College in May 1978, and went to work with the Virginia Credit Union League as a Consultant, serving credit unions in the Roanoke Valley and Southwest Chapters of the Commonwealth.
In July 1980, he was promoted to Senior Consultant and assigned to the Hampton Roads and Southside Chapters of the state. Rick left the League in September 1982 to accept the position of Assistant Manager of the $180 million Martinsville DuPont Employees Credit Union located in Martinsville, Virginia.
In June 1986, he returned to the League as the Assistant Vice President of Virginia League Corporate Federal Credit Union. In January 1988, he was promoted to Vice President of the Corporate. While there, he served as an elected member of U. S. Central’s Credit Committee for six years and as Chairman of this committee for two years.
In May 1994, Rick was promoted to Vice President of the League’s Credit Union Support Services. This division is responsible for education and training, planning, and financial analysis to Virginia credit unions. In May 1997, Rick was promoted to Executive Vice President of the League.
On January 1, 2000, Rick became President of the Virginia Credit Union League and Virginia Credit Union Services, Incorporated.
He currently serves as a Board Member of the Credit Union National Association (CUNA); Past Chairman of the American Association of Credit Union Leagues (AACUL); Board Member of the Credit Unions Care Foundation of Virginia; Treasurer of the Southeastern Regional Credit Union Schools; Board Liaison to AACUL's Regulatory Advocacy Advisory Committee and Committee Member on the Credit Union National Association Sub-Committee on Examinations and Supervision of Credit Unions.
He is Past Chairman of CU House, LLC, Past Chairman of CUNA's CULAC Board of Trustee's as well as Past Treasurer of the former Credit Union Service Corporation of Atlanta.
Rick graduated from the League Management Institute Program at the University of Wisconsin in 1990 and earned his Certified League Executive Designation. As a baseball pitcher, his 1976 team ranked 1st in Division III Baseball, and he was elected to the Lynchburg College Sports Hall of Fame in 1997.
Terry Childress has been with the Virginia Credit Union League for more than 35 years. He is a 1976 graduate of James Madison University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management and Marketing.
He is also a 1990 graduate of CUNA's League Management Institution. During the past 35 years, he has been involved in the development of many of the products and services that credit unions use today.These programs include: share drafts; ATMs and ATM networks; debit and credit cards; data processing and shared branching facilities. He has also held numerous committee and board positions throughout the credit union movement.
The committees he has served on include: ACULE's Fee Services Committee, Credit Union Service Corporation of Atlanta Operations Committee and the Federal Reserve Operations Committee.Terry previously served on the following boards: Credit Union Interchange Group, Member Options, Credit Union 24, and the Credit Union Service Corporation (Credit Union Service Centers), the shared branching network. He currently serves as secretary of the Board of Directors for Palmetto Cooperative Services, a credit union service organization (CUSO) providing operational support services to credit unions and other entities.
He also serves as Executive Vice President/Assistant Treasurer for the Credit Union Service Company of Virginia, LLC, (CUSCVA) a shared branching CUSO owned by Virginia credit unions currently operating four stand alone branches and numerous outlets in Virginia and South Carolina.
David Miles is Senior Vice President of Association Services for the Virginia Credit Union League. He manages the government relations areas including legislative and regulatory affairs. David oversees education services including compliance, consulting and strategic services. David is currently the Chief Operating Officer for the Credit Unions Care Foundation of Virginia.
David Miles previously served as President/CEO of VACORP Federal Credit Union. He has held various management positions with the League and its subsidiaries since 1990 and has enjoyed 25 years of credit union work.
David is a graduate of the University of Virginia. He has earned both the Certified Credit Union Executive (CCUE) and Certified League Executive (CLE) designations. He is a registered credit union lobbyist in the state of Virginia.
R.B. Martin joined the League in April 2006 as its Vice President of Finance/Chief Financial Officer. He oversees the accounting, human resource and financial management functions of the League, the Credit Union Service Company of Virginia (CUSCVA) and Virginia Credit Union Services Inc. (VACUS).
Prior to joining the League, he served as Chief Financial Officer for VACORP Federal Credit Union, a position he had held since 1998. He was also previously employed as an Audit Supervisor with the accounting firm of Cherry, Bekaert, & Holland.
He holds an accounting degree from Lynchburg College and has been a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) since 1986.
Nicole Widell is Vice President of Member Services/Marketing and is responsible for marketing the League; Virginia Credit Union Services Inc. (VACUS), the wholly owned credit union services subsidiary of the League; and the Credit Unions Care Foundation of Virginia, a non-profit dedicated to the charitable, educational and community causes supported by Virginia's member-owned credit unions.
Before joining the League in February 2011, she served as Vice President of Marketing & Business Development at Richmond-based DuPont Fibers Federal Credit Union, a position she held for five years. Prior to her employment at DuPont Fibers Federal Credit Union, she was employed for five years as Marketing Manager for Newport News-based 1st Advantage Federal Credit Union.
Nicole Widell is a 1999 graduate of Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia where she earned a B.S. degree in Business Administration and Marketing.
Lewis Wood is Vice President of Public Relations and Communications and has been employed by the League since 1997.
He is responsible for the League's publications and communications to member credit unions, including writing and editing the League's various newsletters, forums and listservs, and annual report. He also works with the media, helps manage the League's social media presence, promotes credit unions' charitable and community service work, and helps manage the League's brand.
Lewis is also responsible for the ongoing development of websites for the League and our affiliated organizations, including My Credit Union Is Me, and helps promote various programs for League affiliates.
Lewis holds a journalism degree from Radford University.
